Story[]
Markus, reviewing Elena's recovery, deems her fit to return to Concordia, and again turns down her offer to work with him for personal reasons. Meanwhile, Valerie is interrupted from her last walk through Alaska with an emergency call - there's been an accident at the church construction site, and the injured party cannot be moved. Elena insists to join Markus and Valerie as they set off for the church.
Sister Catherine is trapped beneath the rubble, and the collapsed frame is too heavy to be moved. With it compressing her chest, her heart is suffering from cardiac tamponade. Valerie springs to action, awakening to her Healing Touch in the process.
A week after the incident, Markus and Valerie have finished preparing for their return to Concordia. Hoover explains that the Montgomery staff will all be transferred to the facility at Fairbanks, while he will move in with his daughter at Seattle for recovery. Markus has also negotiated with Concordia to allow for Elena to work with him as an operating assistant.
As Valerie reflects on her experiences in Alaska, Markus reminds her that Wilkens is requesting that they perform a very difficult operation. She expresses confidence in herself and her coworkers, after what they've just endured.

Operation[]
This chapter introduces Valerie's Healing Touch, thus setting up the strategical differences between choosing her or Markus. Start with the external wounds, then make the entry incision.
You now are dealing with hemorrhages hidden beneath the organ surface. Find them with the ultrasound and incise over them to let the blood spill out. If left unattended for too long, the hemorrhages will burst onto the surface, causing vital damage and breaking the Chain. Once you've made the incision, drain out the blood and suture the wound. It's usually easier to raise the vitals first before starting the opening incision, then find and cut open all the hemorrhages at once to avoid the risk of one bursting.
Once you've dealt with the initial injuries, a new wave of hemorrhages will form. Again, raise vitals before treating them all.
With the second wave of injuries done, the third wave will happen, causing severe vital damage. This is when Valerie's Healing Touch kicks in, keeping the patient's vitals in from raising or falling any further. You essentially have no risk of the patient dying while it's active, so take your time to treat the remaining wounds.
Special Bonuses[]
- No mistakes: x1.3
- Completed with [180/210/220] left: x1.2
- MAX CHAIN of at least [50/65/70]: x1.2
- Myocardium tore ≤ [6/4/2] times: x1.3
Operation Rank[]
Rank | Easy | Normal | Hard |
---|---|---|---|
C | <4600 | <5900 | <7400 |
B | 4600~4999 | 5900~6199 | 7400~7699 |
A | 5000~5199 | 6200~6499 | 7700~7999 |
S | ≥5200 | ≥6500 | 8000~8099 |
XS | - | - | ≥8100 |
Getting XS[]
To avoid the myocardium tearing, you'll have to cut out all the blood pockets at once. Each wave only has 4 blood pockets, and cutting each one deals 8 vital damage, so raise vitals to at least 35-40 before starting work.
