Blazing Darkness is the second Diagnosis level in Trauma Team.
Opening[]
In his office, Dr. Cunningham is playing cards with RONI, who managed to win for the 298th time. As RONI explains to an annoyed Gabe about its processing speed, he hears loud noises in the hall. He exits his office to see Maria struggling with a middle-aged man. Maria tells Gabe that the man is his patient, despite the man objecting to the need to be examined. Gabe then noticed the man's leg shaking, & he tells Maria that they're going to need him overnight.
Diagnosis[]
Phase 1[]
This diagnosis will be exceedingly difficult as the patient is obviously uncooperative. Due to this the stethoscope is not available for this phase. Questioning will reveal the following symptoms: "Gets Tired Easily", "Lack of Appetite", "Bloated Abdomen", and "Nausea". Diagnostics will reveal the following symptoms: "Low Platelet Count", "High Total Bilirubin Level", "High AST Level", "High ALT Level", and "Low Cholesterol Level". Gabriel also notices that he should have jaundice, but his eyes are too squinty to tell. RONI suggests angering him to make him widen them. Conduct a physical exam and notice his portly stomach. This will make him angry enough to open his eyes wider. The following symptoms will be revealed: "Jaundice" and "Shaking Legs". Next, do a CT scan. This may be easier said than done, but the following symptoms will be shown: "Ascites Accumulation" and "Swollen Liver". This will be enough for you to reach a conclusion: "Congestive Liver Failure". Gabriel notes that this condition is mainly caused by heart failure, which means the diagnosis must continue.
Phase 2[]
- "Patient suffers from congestive liver failure. Possible link to primary affliction. Continuing diagnosis."
After Gabriel explains his findings to Tillman and the possibility of heart disease, you may question him again. Doing so will reveal the following symptoms: "Dyspnea" and "Chest Pain". He also indicates that he had a heart problem two years ago. Now you can finally use the stethoscope. Doing so will reveal the following symptoms: "S3 and S4" and "Discontinuous Sounds". Another diagnostic test will become available. The new symptoms that arise from this are: "Low Blood Pressure" and "High BNP Level". Now do an EKG. The game will help you use it. You find the following symptoms from this: "Abnormal Q Waves" and "Negative T Waves". An X-ray will then be done. This will reveal this symptom: "Enlarged Heart". Now the only thing left is to do an echocardiography. While researching the possibilities, you discover that the patient may have had a case of viral myocarditis two years ago. Gabriel returns to the exam room to confront Tillman with his new evidence. After this, Tillman explodes and threatens to leave, but Gabe forces him to stay. The ultrasound soon becomes available. Examining the results reveals the following: "Enlarged Left Ventricle". This is the final piece that lets you make a diagnosis: "Dilated Cardiomyopathy".
Ending[]
In the Exam Room, Gabe explains to Tillman about his dilated cardiomyopathy. He then explains the probability of him living, & then he tells Tillman that he needs a heart transplant & that he shouldn't be working until then. Tillman angrily protests against this, saying that he needs to save the country, but Gabe tells him that saving his life has to come first. He then advises Tillman to move out to the country & wait for a donor before walking out of the Exam Room, leaving Tillman there.
Later that day, Gabe is standing on top of the roof, & he is visited by Tomoe.
