Fragmenting a gallstone.
Cholelithiasis is a condition where gallstones are formed in the gall bladder. It often causes discomfort within the digestive system. Treatment of this condition often involves fragmenting of the gallstones and removal of the gall bladder.
This condition is first encountered in Trauma Center: New Blood , when Markus and Valerie operate on Justin Everett.
Treatment[]
While treating cholelithiasis, gallstones will periodically pass into the epithelium. They can often be spotted through their shadow while exiting the gall bladder. Gallstones must be spotted with the ultrasound before they can be fragmented with the laser. Larger gallstones take longer exposure to the laser before fragmenting and may even break up into two smaller gallstones. If they exit the screen, the patient's vitals will drop, and the chain will break.
While fragmenting the gallstones, the player must also extract the gallbladder as well. First, the white sedative must be injected into the gallbladder. Then, the gallbladder needs to be cut out bit by bit. With each successful excision step, blood pools will form which must be drained before the next excision can be done. If too much time passes between draining of the blood and completion of the next step, more blood pools will form, usually causing a drop in vitals and breaking of chain.
After complete excision of the gallbladder, gallstones will stop forming. The last few blood pools must then be drained before the gall bladder can be extracted. After which, antibiotic gel is needed to stop further bleeding, and the epithelium sutured.
Tips[]
- The Slow Time Healing Touch makes cholelithiasis operations incredibly easy since the player will be able to completely focus on gall bladder extraction, reducing time spent fragmenting the gallstones. Therefore, it is recommended that the player choose Markus for this operation.
- The Anesthesia Healing Touch, on the other hand, allows the player to quickly cut out the gall bladder without worry of the vital damage caused by each successful cutting step. They must still pay attention for any gallstones if they want their Chain intact, though.
