Story

Markus and Valerie are introduced to Mr. Nilsen, the president of Humani. He expresses his gratitude to them for their speech on Miracle Surgery, and mentions that their recent appearance has led to greater exposure for his company's products. As a token of appreciation he offers box seats to an upcoming ice hockey game.

At the hockey game, Markus, Valerie and Nilsen are in the midst of discussing the progress of the Stigma investigation when one of the players gets injured in a violent collision. As he's wheeled off to the operating room, Nilsen proposes they try one of Humani's new anaesthetics - it had just entered the market, and he figured that a celebrity endorsement would help with marketing. As the team gets to work they notice regular convulsions during the operation, and attribute it to the anaesthetic and the patient's excited state. They make a note to inform Mr. Nilsen of that potential side effect.

Briefing Dialogue Our patient, Mr Gunderson, seems...quite agitated. He said that he'll let us decide whether or not to use a general or a local anesthetic. Hmm...I wonder if our anesthetic will even affect him if he's that worked up. Perhaps you could try using this...It's a powerful new anesthetic our company developed. It has a much smaller risk of side effects and allergic reactions than others currently on the market. ...Is this anesthesia still being tested? Good heavens, no! It's already been approved! It just hasn't been used much yet, so it's not very well known. I'd be thankful if it attracted some attention after being used on a sports celebrity like this. Well then, we'll try out the anesthetic from your company. About the patient...His elbow ligament is torn, and a fragment of a hockey stick is lodged in his biceps brachii. It's a wonder that he doesn't seem to be in much pain with a wound like that. The objectives in this operation are to reconnect the ligaments and remove the fragment. I'm counting on you all! Operation

This is a unique procedure where you work on the patient's arm. Clean out the blood pools and initial wounds, then make the incision to begin.

Start with draining off the blood pool in the muscle and removing the hockey stick fragment with the forceps. You'll then have to suture up the three broken ligaments. Each ligament consists of four broken fibers, and you'll have to use the forceps to stretch them across before finishing with a quick suture.

All seems fine until the operation throws in the twist: convulsions. Like episode 3-8 of Under the Knife, the convulsions will waste your time because you'll have to stop what you're doing until they subside - trying anything is an instant Miss. Any unsutured ligaments will fall apart again, and the stick wound will bleed again if unsutured.

Speed and precision are essential here to minimize complications and get a good score.
