Game Over

Various Game Overs are triggered by failing an operation or otherwise an important scenario.

Under The Knife

In the first Under The Knife, Derek will be walking on the streets with the Game Over track playing. If you fail the bomb cutscene, the Game Over screen will be black, with the words "RETRY?"

Second Opinion

In Second Opinion it shows trays and multiple scalpels, explaining the failure that this has brought whilst playing "Too Much Of A Burden." The words "Game Over" are also in the corner. Afterward, a beam of light will be shooting out, playing the continue screen, asking, "Restart from the beginning of the current operation?"

• Regular game over: "A few days later, Derek Stiles mysteriously disappeared without saying a word to anyone. The burden of the patients' lives turned out to be more than he could bear...after his final operation, most people would agree that Dr. Stiles had no business treating patients in the first place.
• Bomb game over: There is no scene. It just switches to the "Continue?" screen.
• Naomi game over: "Even though she had been stripped of her medical license in Japan, Dr. Weaver could always depend on her ability to save lives. However, when she failed to save a patient, she had lost faith in herself and everything she believed in...and never performed surgery again."
• Chapter 6 game over: "Despair over the accident took root in the young doctor's heart, where it continued to fester for years to come...eventually growing so large that it overshadowed everything else. The hopes that once drove the doctor to greatness were swallowed by emptiness and regret."

New Blood

In New Blood, similar to Second Opinion, there will be a dark screen with two stethoscopes and the words "Game Over" in the corner. However, this is a voice for this track.

• Game Over 1: "The doctors' failure haunted them both, bringing them much grief and sorrow. Dr. Vaughn and Dr. Blaylock, two doctors of exceptional talent, both left the field of medicine, never to fulfill their destinies..."
• Game Over 2: For Dr. Vaughn and Dr. Blaylock, two gifted doctors who strove for perfection, the pain of their mistake was too much to bear. Without a parting word, they both left the field of medicine forever..."
• Hyperlock code game over: Just like the bomb game over in Second Opinion, immediately going to the continue screen.

Under The Knife 2

In Under The Knife 2, there are trays and a scalpel shone on by a red light. "The Burden Of Failure" will be playing as the words explaining what happens play out.

• Camp Zakara game over: "A few days later, Derek Stiles left Camp Zakara...alone. Not even the gifted surgeon of Caduceus could bear the harsh realities of this foreign land..."
• Caduceus game over: A few days after the surgery, Derek Stiles disappeared from Caduceus USA. His resignation letter, left on the Director's desk, said he would never hold a scalpel in his hand again...He was unable to withstand the pressure and burden of wielding the Healing Touch. Derek's whereabouts are unknown to this day..."
• Hope Hospital game over: "Derek Stiles left Hope Hospital without saying a word. After losing the Healing Touch and even the ability to perfom a standard surgery. Derek couldn't go on as a doctor. No one knows what happened to him after that..."
• Caduceus game over 2: "The next day, Derek Stiles did not show up at Caduceus USA. It was only one mistake...but its consequences were more than he could bear. Possessing the Healing Touch made it all the more difficult to accept."
• Kidnapping game over: "Six months passed after the abduction of Derek Stiles and Angie Thompson. All leads were exhausted; no one even knew if they were alive or dead. The battle against Delphi's bioterrorism worsened day by day...and before long, Derek and Angie faded from memory."
• Final boss game over: "The mission to contain the threat posed by Neo-Guilt ended in failure; modern medicine was powerless against what was beyond human understanding. Derek Stiles was never found, and his illustrious reputation faded into obscurity. To this day, it is uncertain whether or not humanity was freed from the cursed legacy of GUILT."

Trauma Team:

If you fail an operation, a screen with an unused recording from a doctor will play, with an image of a tape recorder and the words "Game Over." In the episode Seeking Atonement however, if the player detonate a bomb, the recording will not play anything indicating that Naomi had died in the explosion.

• CR-S01: "I can't...save...anyone...Ha...hahaha...! It was all for nothing...! I've had enough...leave me alone..."
• Maria Torres: "Dammit, dammit...! What did I do wrong?!...Is this it? Is this all I could do? I'm sick of this...I've had enough of people dying!"
• Hank Freebird: "Was I... wrong? I thought justice always comes out on top... I don't know what's right anymore, John..."
• Gabriel Cunningham: "...This is how things always go. Eh, why'd I bother thinking it'd be different this time- Sometimes, you just gotta know when to quit tryin'..."
• Tomoe Tachibana: "I couldn't save the patient, I couldn't help the helpless... I left my home and family behind... But in the end, I'm just a puppet, with no strength of my own."
• Naomi Kimishima: "...So... My time has come. How pathetic that I would end up welcoming the end... Ha... But... I'm so tired. Please... Let me rest for a while..."
• Patient Zero: "...Why? I just wanted... To live in happiness... I wanted everyone... to be happy... But... BUT... NooooOOOOO...!"
