Love in the Ground is the third Orthopedics level in Trauma Team.
Opening[]
Hank appears in CR-S01's operating room, thanking him for his good work. He then leaves to find Claire Blunt among the flowerbeds. He asks her if she likes flowers and points out an Asclepias tuberosa. Claire asks if he is angry with her. Hank asks why, and Claire points out that the area is off-limits. Hank allows her to stay as she hasn't done any harm. She drops a rolled-up paper on the ground and Hank shouts at her not to litter. Nervous, Claire asks if he will be mad at her now. While Hank explains that some things are always wrong, he is notified of an upcoming surgery. Claire stops him and asks if he enjoys saving lives. Hank says that life is wonderful and he wants people to see it before leaving. Claire thinks him strange for saying that.
Operation[]
Make an incision into the back. This will reveal the spine, but nothing out of the ordinary yet. The first step is to use the laser to remove the vertebral arches. Within the spinal cord awaits a large tumor, which must be cut away with the scalpel in pieces. Once it is removed, a weird black bruise appears on the surgical field. A new strange tumor appears where the large one was. It is held in place by blood vessels, which must be cut before it can be excised. A second tumor will appear, which must be removed the same way. Be careful, as the guidelines for this one don't stay still but wiggle around, making it easy to miss. The black bruises will then recede, allowing you to replace the vertebral arches with pins and rods and close up the patient.
Ending[]
Maria asks if Hank is all right. He points out that he's never seen anything like this. Maria asks if it's fine since the surgery was a success. Hank decides to report his findings to Gabriel. Esha comes down and congratulates them, adding that Hank has a visitor. It turns out to be Claire. Hank tries to bring her inside, but she complains about the hospital smell. She offers him food, saying she cooked it herself and made too much. Hank is grateful for the gesture. Claire reveals that her father used to cheat, and she has no trust in men after that, which is why she tried to end her life in the first place. Hank scoffs and tries to give Claire reasons to live. Meanwhile, in a discarded newspaper, a headline screams "Eagle Man Appears!" with a photo of Captain Eagle. Hank is distracted from this by Gabriel, who is surprised to learn he does the gardening.
