Story[]
Valerie is approached by a man with a sick child who's been complaining of stomach pain. She agrees to admit him, and his diagnosis is appendicitis. Meanwhile, Markus is dealing with a rich patient, also with appendicitis, but is making a fuss because his operation isn't expensive enough and wants to one-up his friend. Elena comes in with news — Valerie's patient can't afford treatment due to the lack of health insurance, and she's advised to get him to seek treatment elsewhere. After looking at the numbers, Valerie has an idea. She talks with Markus's patient, and suggests he make a donation to raise his bill. The patient agrees, and she uses the donation to help her patient pay off his bill. Markus is slightly amused that this worked, and they get to work on two appendices back-to-back.

Operation[]
You will be treating two cases of appendicitis. As opposed to the usual triage process, you'll start with treating the less severe case.
The first patient serves as a tutorial on the procedure. Inject the white sedative into the appendix and cut away the mesoappendix. Then, slide the wire loops around the appendix with the forceps and tie them tight by pulling away. Cut away the appendix, remove it, and seal with the artificial membrane.
Now you'll switch to the other patient, and his appendix has burst. There's pus and inflammation everywhere, and more will form over time. Pus will interfere with your extraction procedure, so you'll have to regularly stop what you're doing to clear the operation field. Don't forget to treat the inflammation or you'll have to deal with plummeting vitals. The pus will stop forming as soon as you've extracted the appendix and patched the excision point.

Getting XS[]
The obstacle here is the pus formation bonus. It's very easy if you're playing as Markus, since his Healing Touch lets you quickly extract the appendix before any more pus forms. If you're playing Valerie, it can boil down to a matter of luck. Use her Healing Touch so that you don't have to worry about vitals dropping from inflammation, clear out the excision area, then quickly excise the appendix before draining off the rest of the pus.
