Refugee Camp is the first episode of Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2.
Prologue[]
The republic of Costigar, Africa...
The internal warfare plaguing the people of this country for over a decade has finally come to an end.
However, they continue to struggle with attacks by guerilla militants, land mines, and refugees en masse. Still, the country is slowly walking down the path toward peace.
Other countries have begun sending aid to Costigar, helping to establish medical institutions. But the number of doctors needed to staff those facilities has been hopelessly insufficient...
Now... A doctor named Derek Stiles has come to Zakara, one of Costigar's many refugee camps, to provide medical care to those in need.
In these harsh lands that are ill equipped for providing medical care, Derek spends every day pouring his heart into saving those suffering from diseases... |
Story[]
The chapter begins with Derek and Angie in the middle of an operation in a surgical tent in Costigar. Despite the patient falling into a dangerous condition, Derek presses on and successfully completes the operation. As they finish up, they receive word of an emergency patient who's been attacked by a wild animal in a nearby swamp. Derek also mentions that there is a new doctor who's due to begin his duties in this camp.
Meanwhile, Adel Tulba arrives at the camp and identifies himself to security. He hits the ground running as the emergency patient is brought in and Dr. Stiles needs as much help as he can muster.
With assistance from Angie, Dr. Stiles performs successfully and awes Adel. The doctors introduce themselves, and Derek starts mentoring Adel.

Operation[]
This operation is a tutorial to guide you through the operation basics and some of the tools. You'll be introduced to the stabilizer, antibiotic gel, forceps, sutures, scalpel, and bandage, and you'll be treating small wounds and lacerations. Simply follow the instructions to treat the initial wounds. Suture technique differs greatly from the other games - often a large Z over a laceration should suffice to get a COOL rating on it.
Once you've treated the surface wounds, spread antibiotic gel over the incision site and slice. Extract the bone fragments with the forceps, treat the puncture wounds with gel, and then reposition the bone and fragments with the forceps. Gel the bone together to finish this step.
Closing suture technique is a little more complex than the usual lacerations. Draw a large zigzag that at least touches the edges of the incision, and three to five passes over the wound before releasing should suffice for a COOL. Clean the wound with gel and then bandage up to finish.
