Signs of Anguish is the first Diagnosis level in Trauma Team.
Story[]
Esha Patel enters Gabriel's office with some assistants, wheeling in a futuristic-looking computer. Gabriel is initially confused, but Esha introduces him to it: RONI, a state-of-the-art system perfect for diagnostics. Gabriel complains that it'll even hold the records of any lawsuits, but much to his surprise, RONI tells him good morning. Esha and her company leave Gabriel alone with RONI, which bothers him by pointing out that his annoyed sighing may be due to "cardiac neurosis". Irritated, Gabriel asks it not to speak unless he explicitly tells it to, but it misunderstands his use of the expression "sit there like a rock" and tries to explain that it can't be a rock. Soon after, a patient arrives at his door.
Diagnosis[]
When you enter the initial exam, the game will give some basic tutorial tips for diagnosing. The first option available is questioning; it will explain how to pick up symptoms from that. When you try to note one, it will explain the mistakes system. The symptoms you can pick up from this are: "Dyspnea" and "Decrease in Weight". Now the stethoscope option is open, and the game will teach you how to use that. Try listening to the patient, and it will help you compare what you're hearing to a normal sound sample. The symptoms observed are: "Increased Heartrate" and "Increased Breathing". After this, the game will walk you through a visual exam, including the skin of the abdomen. Symptoms you can find here are: "Swollen Neck" and "Trembling Fingertips". Examining the neck will also ensure the conduction of a CT scan. After you've collected all the symptoms, the game will explain how to move locations and introduce you to Gabriel's office and the image analysis lab. You can use this to view the patient's CT scans, X-rays, MRIs and any type of scan that may be performed. This level will introduce you to the CT scan. Bring up an image and it will tell you how to use it, and compare it to a normal exam. Symptoms you can find in this way are: "Swollen Thyroid Gland". After this, you can return to your office and try to diagnose the patient. The game will instruct you on selecting candidates and comparing symptoms. You will be able to narrow the list down to three possible candidates, but nothing more. In order to make a decision, you must perform an MRI, scintigraphy, and analysis. First, go back to the exam room to do the analysis. The following symptoms can be found here: "High FT3 Level", "High FT4 Level" and "Low TSH Level". Next, return to the lab to check out the MRI and scintigraphy. Only one symptom is found here: "Abnormal Thyroid Uptake". Now you can return to your office and make a diagnosis. Based on all observed symptoms, the only possibility remaining is: "Plummer's Disease".
Ending[]
Gabriel finishes explaining the treatment procedure to Nicole, who is relieved to hear that it will cure her. She thanks Gabriel and leaves. Soon after, Esha comes back in, explaining to Gabriel that Joshua Cunningham's operation was a success. Gabriel is reluctant to visit his son, and changes the subject. Esha hands him an invitation to a conference in Japan. Gabriel snatches the invitation from her hand and tears it apart, calling it "pointless" and giving her instructions for Hank. Esha becomes annoyed with him, but he reminds her of her duty. Annoyed, Esha leaves, and Gabriel stares at his son's file.
