Derek's first day of work with Angie gets off to a shaky start as he shows up late. He explains the procedure to his first patient of the day, Mr. Cox, who is still distraught over the possibility of having to give up his singing career. Derek's lack of confidence does not help reassure the patient. Angie tells him off for his inappropriate behavior as they prepare to operate.

Briefing - UtK
We should start the briefing. Let's review today's patient, Mr. Cox. He started feeling pain in his throat about a month ago... He's been coughing up blood since then, and now has trouble. Since Mr. Cox is a rock singer, it's likely that a polyp has formed because of strained bronchial tubes. Obviously, it is now hemorrhaging. We tried a nebulizer treatment, but his condition is getting worse. It's nothing life-threatening, but considering the patient's career...it's serious enough to warrant surgical intervention. It's still possible for him to recover completely. What's your opinion, Dr. Kasal?
That sounds like a good plan.
Are you ready, Dr. Stiles? This operation has three objectives: - Drain the overflowing blood. - Locate the problem area. - Use the laser to remove it. This is a delicate operation, so we'll need the magnification tool. Remember to treat the patient very carefully.
...Nice work, Angie. Dr. Stiles, good luck.
...Okay. Let's begin the operation!

Are you ready, Dr. Stiles? This operation has three objectives: - Drain the overflowing blood. - Locate the source of the patient's distress. - Use the laser to remove it. This is a delicate operation, so we'll need to use the magnification tool. Remember, this is the patient's livelihood, so thread carefully.
...Nice work, Angie. Derek, good luck.
...Okay. Let's begin the operation!
Operation[]
This is a unique operation on the patient's trachea, and introduces the magnifier. The tool behaves in a very different manner compared to its iterations in subsequent games. If, in UtK, you have difficulty getting the magnifier to respond, try drawing a "C" instead of a closed circle.
Drain any blood pools you encounter on magnification, then burn off the polyps and seal the wounds with antibiotic gel. If any wounds bleed out due to being left alone too long, you'll have to drain the blood pools before you can apply the gel.

Apply the gel before burning away the polyps. This allows the gel to immediately seal the wounds before any blood pools can form. Don't try to handle too many polyps at once, or you risk a blood pool forming which causes you to lose time.
