Story
Markus and Valerie meet with Irene, who consoles them that their flawless operation leaves little room for blame on their skills. She bears ominous news with a letter, addressed to the staff:
- Dear Caduceus Staff: Congratulations on your recent appearance on Miracle Surgery! Seeing you perform that operation on national television really inspired me. That's why I believe it's now my turn to make an appearance…
- What you encountered at Concordia was Cheir, the hand. And in Maryland you received Soma, the body. But now, I shall reveal Ops, the eye, for the entire country to witness. I assure you, it will be something to behold. The miracle of modern times: Stigma!
Markus and Valerie are alarmed, and suspect the letter's from Wilkins's kidnapper. The studio had already been contacted of the threat, but aren't responding seriously. As they speak, Leonardo commences operating on live broadcast, and discovers his patient doesn't have a normal ulcer. His own Healing Touch proves insufficient to keeping up with the pathogen, and the team is quickly mobilized to intervene, taking over the operation as Leonardo collapses from overexertion.
After successfully exterminating the Stigma, the team is about to be hailed as new heroes on the show. Valerie butts in, snatching the microphone to make a passionate speech about what Caduceus has been doing in the fight against Stigma. With the show's criticisms thoroughly debunked before the entire audience, Miracle Surgery would then be cancelled right after.
Operation
Meet Ops, the third Stigma strain. Those familiar with GUILT may draw similarities between this Stigma and Pempti.
The main body drifts lazily around while nutrients pass across the operating field. Blue blobs must be drained, and red balls must be disintegrated with the laser. If any impact Ops, the patient's vitals will take a hit and the Chain breaks.
From time to time Ops will also generate red tumors. These must be burned away with the laser, and if left alone they will contribute to vital drain over time. If any nutrients impact Ops, all tumors on the field will burst, delivering an even bigger hit to vitals.
Ops will take a lot of laser exposure before it goes down, but you don't have infinite laser for this operation. The trick then becomes carefully juggling between the laser and drain to keep Ops from ever damaging the patient. Never let the laser run out since you'll always need some in case a red nutrient ball gets sent out, so if the icon goes yellow or red, focus exclusively on draining away nutrients until the laser's replenished enough.
Eventually, Ops will split in two, further necessitating the need to keep the field clear. You'll have to burn away both bodies before the Stigma is completely treated.
Special Bonuses
- Completed with [150/180/190] left: x1.3
- MAX CHAIN of at least [40/60/65]: x1.2
- Core impacted ≤ [3/2/1] times: x1.3
- Tumor burst ≤ [3/2/1] times: x1.2
Operation Rank
Rank | Easy | Normal | Hard |
---|---|---|---|
C | <2800 | <4400 | <6000 |
B | 2800~3099 | 4400~4699 | 6000~6399 |
A | 3100~3199 | 4700~5099 | 6400~6699 |
S | ≥3200 | ≥5100 | 6700~6899 |
XS | - | - | ≥6900 |
Getting XS
Performing a perfect operation won't get you enough score to reach the XS. Once you've fully disintegrated one of the Ops cores, belay destroying the remaining one and just extend your Chain by clearing out nutrients and tumors. Reaching a Chain of 120 should be sufficient to hit the XS threshold, but be aware of the time limit.
