Caduceus Database

The Carrier is the sixth episode of the fifth chapter of Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2.

Story[]

The tracking device leads the police to the abandoned facilities of Eidoth Pharmaceuticals, a former Delphi base. Caduceus and the HOA are to work with the police force by treating any casualties and anyone who gets infected with GUILT during the raid.

While the raid is underway, the HOA doctors work with impressive speed with their artificial Healing Touches. Mayuzumi is eventually located in the base, and the Caduceus team gets to work when they discover that she's been infected with GUILT.

After a successful operation, things start to take a turn for the better, as the police have managed to apprehend the assailant who they were tracking. However, the Delphi remnants have managed to escape, so the war against GUILT is not over yet...

Conference[]

Briefing Dialogue
Alright, let's begin the briefing. President Mayuzumi has been infected with the GUILT, "Pempti."
Pempti...! That's the GUILT that took Secretary Anderson's life!
Yes... Pempti has the ability to create toxic, gelatinous fluid on the surface of organs, and it's known for its extremely powerful regenerative powers. The core of Pempti can produce more fluid, while the fluid itself can regenerate the core. That's why we have a two-pronged objective when dealing with Pempti:
- Use nanomachines to remove the gelatinous fluid.
- Destroy the core with the laser to prevent the creation of more fluid.
First, we'll inject Anti-GUILT nanomachines into the substance covering the right lung, which will lure the Pempti core onto the surface of the organ. Then, use the scalar laser against the core that appears.
Scalar...? Oh yeah, it's that laser Dr. Niguel developed to destroy this GUILT.
Yes, it leaves behind less that 1% of the core's proteins. It's an extremely powerful laser. Please be careful, Doctor; this strain of GUILT has a tendency to stay on the offensive.
Yes, we of all people should know how dangerous Pempti can be. And considering how both Kyriaki and Tetarti mutated... we can't let our guard down.
You're right.
Alright...! Let's begin the operation!

Operation[]

This is another GUILT operation: Pempti. You have the infinite-use scalar laser designed for these operations.

You start with a view of the fluid-filled lung. Inject the nanomachine into the Pempti cell collection when it manifests to cause the fluid to recede. Do this twice and the Pempti core will manifest - but you'll notice there are two cores melded together. Burn the core with the laser and the battle will start.

Pempti will now split into two, with each core occupying the top-right and bottom-left corners of the screen. Mini-core attacks will be split among both cores so you have to divide your attention. For laceration mini-cores, each Pempti will take turns releasing one mini-core. For polyp mini-cores, each Pempti will release three mini-cores each, and you barely have enough time to burn off three or four mini-cores before they extend across the organ. For vital-drain mini-cores, three of these cores will circulate each Pempti body until destroyed.

For the first phase of the operation, the main Pempti cores will not be exposed to laser fire until you've defeated one wave of each mini-core variant. Following that, the main cores will start using their attacks at random and also intermittently surface to become vulnerable to attacks. Focus on defending against Pempti's attacks and attack each core when they become vulnerable to slowly wear them down. It takes 5 registered OKs before a core is defeated.

Once you've destroyed one of the Pempti cores, the other one will go berserk. Whenever it attacks it will unleash both a ring of vital-draining cores and either the laceration or polyp cores. The lack of delay between vital-damaging attacks can overwhelm you, so ideally you would want to alternate between attacking both cores over the course of the operation. This way, when the remaining core goes berserk, it's just one hit away from defeat and you don't have to endure as much of the berserk core before you complete the operation.

Special Bonuses[]

  • No misses: 700
  • Completed with [100/120/140] left: 600
  • MAX CHAIN Over [50/60/70]: 400

(There is no missing information; the special bonuses total to less than 2000.)

Operation Rank[]

  • C: <4000
  • B: 4000-4999
  • A: 5000-5299
  • S: 5300-5599
  • XS: ≥5600

Getting XS[]

Alternate your attacks between each Pempti core. Once the last core turns berserk and is on its last legs, activate the Healing Touch so that you can manage its attacks and minimize the vital loss before you deal the finishing blow.
