Story[]
Professor Wilkens's next assignment for Markus and Valerie is a pacemaker operation. Markus is confused as a cardiologist would be better-suited; Wilkens justifies that the experience can serve as preparation for his operation.
After briefing the young patient on their operation, Markus and Valerie come across a hoodie-wearing man pestering Frances Chen for painkillers. She keeps reiterating that despite his alleged symptoms that there is nothing to justify a prescription, and he eventually leaves in a huff. Chen gives some encouragement to the team for the upcoming operation.

Operation[]
As soon as you begin the operation, the patient goes into cardiac arrest. Since she has a pacemaker in, a defibrillator would be ill-suited. Instead, you have to restart the heart with a heart massage. Press A and B together when the dotted hand outlines overlap. Doing this perfectly will let you restart the heart with fewer attempts.
Once the heart has restarted, follow the procedure to exchange the pacemaker wires. You'll have to disinfect each end, cut them out with the scalpel, drain off any blood, and then remove the wires with the forceps, suturing the wound left behind. Replace the lead with the forceps, use the ultrasound to relocate the entry points, then incise, insert, and suture.
While you're performing the operation, the heart may occasionally fibrillate. When this is happening, stop what you're doing and wait - trying anything in this time is considered a Miss. If normal heart activity resumes, you can continue the procedure normally. If cardiac arrest happens you will have to massage the heart before continuing.

Getting XS[]
For the heart massage bonus, you have enough leeway for cardiac arrest to happen up to 3 times. Any more and you will lose that bonus. Operating quickly is key here as you will be exposed to fewer instances of fibrillation. Markus's Healing Touch is invaluable for a good rank here.
